Event Overview: A rare chance to meet two eminent experts in Roman history:
Professor Andrew Wallace-Hadrill – Professor of Roman Studies and Head of Research (Classics) at the University of Cambridge; Director of the Herculaneum Conservation Project; historian, Classical archaeologist and author.
Associate Professor Peter Keegan – Associate Dean Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Arts, and Associate Professor in Roman history at Macquarie University; expert in Roman epigraphy; graffiti and Vesuvian cities, author, historian of ancient Roman society and culture, and researcher.
Each presenter will discuss their work and offer insights into investigating and interpreting Pompeii, with particular reference to working with primary sources. Students are invited to send their questions ahead of time so we can ensure topics of interest are covered. Our Senior Education Officer will also talk about on-line resources for our new exhibition Escape from Pompeii – the untold Roman rescue.
