Event Overview: Audience: Years 4, 5 and 6 students.

The presentation will assist students to:
o understand why online messages can be easily misunderstood
o recognise that messages can be hurtful even when this may not be the intent
o understand that non-verbal behaviours help us receive messages more than volume, pitch or words
o consider when teasing crosses the line and becomes harmful and hurtful
o identify appropriate responses to someone communicating inappropriately.

Further Information: With the help of classroom teachers, the presentation will feature interactive questions and discussions.

The presentation will be a guided experience for classrooms with complementary resources aligned to the theme. Other related resources are available from our website.

Greg Gebhart is the Senior Trainer for the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner and one of Australia’s leading presenters. Greg has provided presentations to more than 500,000 participants at state, national and international events. He has a degree in Applied Science (Physical Education) and a Masters in Computer Education. Greg has a strong background in leadership and change and has held senior positions including Regional Manager for the Victorian Industry and Education Partnerships program and Chair of his Regional Adult Education Board. In his spare time, he is actively involved in a range of sporting bodies and is a volunteer fire fighter. He has been recognised for his achievements and passion to help others many times, including being listed in the 'Who’s Who' list of people that have shaped Australia and the International Society for Technology in Education global achievement award.
