Event Overview: Designed to cover a broad range of chemical concepts that is accessible to students.

- kitchen chemistry found at home
- physical changes vs. chemical reactions
- acids vs bases and indicators to detect them
- acid rain - properties of solids, liquids and gases
- UV light and glowing chemicals
- energy changes and more...

Students will perform chemical reactions during the conference using materials provided by your school.
Fizzics Education will provide information on materials required prior to the event date.
Further details and a video can be found on the following link: http://www.fizzicseducation.com.au/school+visits/primary+page+1/chemistry+show+primary.html

Should you require a different day please contact us and we'll arrange a suitable time for you!

Australian Curriculum Outcomes - Primary

- Natural and processed materials have a range of physical properties; These properties can influence their use (ACSSU074)
- Solids, liquids and gases have different observable properties and behave in different ways (ACSSU077)
- Changes to materials can be reversible, such as melting, freezing, evaporating; or irreversible, such as burning and rusting (ACSSU095)

Australian Curriculum Outcomes - Secondary

NSW Science Syllabus - Primary
A student:

- identifies ways heat is produced and that heat moves from one object to another (ST2-6PW)
- identifies that adding or removing heat causes a change of state between solids and liquids
- identifies the observable properties of solids, liquids and gases, and that changes made to materials are reversible or irreversible (ST3-12MW)
- describes how the properties of materials determine their use for specific purposes (ST3-13MW)

NSW Science Syllabus - High School
- describes the observed properties and behaviour of matter, using scientific models and theories about the motion and arrangement of particles (SC4-16CW)
- explains how scientific understanding of, and discoveries about, the properties of elements, compounds and mixtures relate to their uses in everyday life (SC4-17CW)
- explains how models, theories and laws about matter have been refined as new scientific evidence becomes available (SC5-16CW)
- discusses the importance of chemical reactions in the production of a range of substances, and the influence of society on the development of new materials (SC5-17CW)

Booking Instructions:

Additional Booking Instructions: On booking we will send out a .pdf file which will contain;- a confirmation of the time/date of the video conference.- a list of experiment materials we expect that you will have available during the conference. These inexpensive science materials are readily accessible in any supermarket and make the video conference more interactive and engaging for students. Please check these details carefully.

A tax invoice \will be forwarded to you to pass onto your school administration.

Further Information: Limit of 6 schools organised on a first come first served basis.
