Event Overview: This unique digital excursion, presented by an Indigenous narrator, will take students on a journey of discovery about the area now known as Bennelong Point. They will hear an oral history of this site from the Aboriginal perspective - from creation time and the ancestral spirits who formed the landscape, to pre-settlement and the story of Bennelong and the Wangal clan, to todays site with the iconic Sydney Opera House and its connection to BiraBirragal or Sydney Harbour.

By using detailed historical accounts, recorded references, and virtual simulations of Sydney Cove pre-settlement, students will be given the sense of stepping back in time - walking among the Gadigal people and interacting with the landscape. Students will learn of the fishing rites to the oyster beds on a little island known as Tyebowgale, the totems and sea creatures that were connected to the Gadigal people, and the daily life of the clans that inhabited Sydney Cove. They will also hear of the changes that came with the arrival of Governor Phillip and stories of the convicts who worked from this ancient midden and gathering site.

This digital excursion covers the following curriculum outcomes:
S2: CCS2.1,CCS2.2, CUS2.3, ENS2.5, ENS2.6
S3: CCS3.1, CUS3.3, ENS3.6
