The Nanga Mai Awards celebrate innovation, excellence and achievement in Aboriginal education within NSW public schools and school communities.
The awards are held annually and are supported by the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW) and the Aboriginal Education Council. Past winners include academically successful students, confident leaders, talented performing artists and outstanding sportspeople along with dedicated teachers and community leaders. Awards are presented in 3 categories
1. Student Awards
2. Staff Awards
3. School Community Awards.
This year ( the 14th year the awards have been presented) the awards come to you live from the Yallamundi Rooms at the Sydney Opera House
The awards are presented by category, with an acknowledgement of country, an opening address from the Secretary and a keynote address this year from Jack Evans, a fourth year medical student. The ceremony also features vocal and dance items.
